At Thorah Central, we are committed to a safe and inclusive school environment because we believe that safe schools are needed for student success and academic achievement. We strive to provide all of our students with the supports they need to learn, grow and achieve. Together we work to create a school where everyone feels safe.
Bullying Definition
√ It is a deliberate act
√ There is an intent to harm
√ It is usually persistent over time
√ There is a real or perceived power imbalance
Our students learn the 4 Rs of bullying prevention
√ Recognize - to discern what is and is not bullying
√ Refuse - to accept bullying behaviour
√ Report - to a trusted adult
√ Restore - to repair relationships
Throughout the school year we emphasize the behaviour expectations for all members of our school community:
√ We care about each other
√ We respect each other
√ We support each other.
The message we give to students is that all interactions, both face-to-face and digital, need to be conducted with respect and that we treat others as we expect to be treated.
